Two long-time friends of SERDP and ESTCP were recognized by the Interstate Technology & Regulatory Council at their 2017 annual meeting in New Orleans last week. Dr. Charles Newell of GSI Environmental received an Industry Appreciation Award for his work with the ITRC Remediation Management of Complex Sites team. In addition, Chuck was awarded the Environmental Excellence Award based on his years of work with various ITRC teams. In addition to his work with ITRC, Chuck has been very involved with SERDP and ESTCP. He has been the lead investigator on 13 projects and co-investigator on another eight mostly in the Environmental Restoration Program Area. I thought I had been involved in a lot of projects in my PI days but Chuck makes me look like a pretender.
Mr. Jim Pastorick of UXO Pro also received an Industry Appreciation Award for his work with the Quality Considerations for Multiple Aspects of Munitions Response Sites team. Jim has been affiliated with the ESTCP Classification Advisory Group for many years and worked closely with ESTCP and the State of California on the initial draft of the Advanced Geophysical Classification Quality Assurance Project Plan template.
Congratulations from all of us here at SERDP and ESTCP to Chuck and Jim for these well-deserved honors.
