Led by Dr. Tricia Underwood, Deputy Director of Risk Management at the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), this short course provides several perspectives on the regulatory impacts of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and the European Union’s (EU) Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation specific to U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) issues including cleanup, supply chain, material availability, sustainment, and operations. Guest speakers from U.S. and international government agencies include Niva Kramek, the project lead for maintaining and updating the TSCA Work Plan for Chemical Assessment at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); and Costas Tataroglou, Policy Officer Industry, Engagement and EU Policies at the European Defence Agency (EDA). Industry perspectives will be presented by Erin Yeager, Associate Director at the Engineering REACH Program Office at Pratt & Whitney (P&W); and David Hyde, the Director of Environmental Policy at the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA). A Q&A Panel session will close out the short course.
