Site Description
Located in Jefferson County, Colorado, the 135-acre Camp George West Artillery Range was used for training as an impact area for 75-mm projectiles from 1930 to 1945. The impact area is currently owned by the city of Lakewood.
Suspected Munitions Present at the Demonstration Site
75-mm projectiles
Demonstration Summary
The advanced EMI sensor to be employed in this demonstration, the Man Portable Vector (MPV), will be used in dynamic mode: survey mode to detect anomalies, followed by cued interrogation of a number of the anomalies detected. Survey data will be collected with a line spacing of 1.2m as a baseline for anomaly detection, but will not be used for classification as part of this study. Several types of classification processing will be evaluated, including statistical classification algorithms and library-matching algorithms.
The site was seeded with inert munitions, and all anomalies will be dug to confirm technology performance. Demonstrators will be scored based on their ability to eliminate nonhazardous items while retaining all detected munitions.
