RCW DSS
GIS-based spatially-explicit decision support system (DSS) derived from red-cockaded woodpecker (RCW, Picoides borealis) habitat and population information that can be used to simulate population dynamics on real and hypothetical landscapes. Designed especially to help identify and prioritize habitat parcels that impact RCW population dynamics on and in the vicinity of DoD installations in the southeastern United States and to evaluate potential impacts of different management and land use options on RCW populations. The DSS runs as an Arc extension in a point-and-click style and it incorporates an individual-based RCW population model.
