Resource Conservation and Resilience - DoD-Only Topics

ESTCP, Resource Conservation and Resilience Program Area

Released January 6, 2023

Closed March 9, 2023

FY 2024
  1. Work With Us
  2. ESTCP FY 2024 Solicitation

Objective

Resource conservation and resiliency demonstration and validation efforts related to technologies that address natural resources monitoring, cultural resource surveys, or installation resilience, as follows:

  • Cultural resource survey and assessment efforts should focus on advanced cultural resource survey technologies, techniques for historic property rehabilitation, content management systems, emerging and maturing remote sensing platforms, and advanced analytical processing algorithms, that improve the pace, scale, and accuracy of such tools and approaches on DoD lands.
  • Natural resource efforts should focus advanced and emerging monitoring methods and remote sensing technologies on DoD lands to improve the efficiency, scale, and accuracy of population and habitat assessments for threatened, endangered and at-risk species, ecosystem health, resilience and trends monitoring, assessing fire risk and documenting fire effects, watershed health assessments, invasive species detection, species migrations, and carbon sequestration estimates.
  • Resilience of natural infrastructure demonstration and validation efforts should focus on advancing tools, technologies, and methodologies for sustaining natural infrastructure required by the DoD for the maintenance of capabilities, training, and testing of new systems.

In FY24, ESTCP issued two topic areas for the Resource Conservation and Resilience program area through a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) to the private sector as well as one topic area of general interest:

  • Advancing Technology for Rapid Survey and Assessment of Cultural Resources on DoD Lands
  • Advancing Technology for Monitoring and Assessment of Natural Resources on DoD Lands
  • Innovative Technology Transfer Approaches

Investigators were encouraged to submit proposals through the DoD submittal process that respond to these BAA topic areas. These topics represent areas of particular interest to ESTCP.
