SERDP released a solicitation on November 14, 2025, offering a competitive FY 2027 funding opportunity to researchers across federal agencies, academia and industry.
The solicitation invites pre-proposals responding to targeted Statements of Need (SONs) in three selected topics, designed to address priority installation challenges. Key topics include:
- Improved Understanding of the Fate and Transport of Compounds Released from Tire Wear Particles to the Aquatic Environment: This SON seeks to understand how chemicals released from tire wear particles move through stormwater, soils, and aquatic systems and how they transform once released into the environment. This knowledge will help DoD develop site-specific risk assessments and decisions related to mitigation of exposures at these sites.
- Environmental Heterogeneity and Species Population Management under External Stressors: This SON addresses how variation in habitat conditions, combined with external stressors, shapes the population dynamics of threatened, endangered, and at-risk species on DoD lands. More effective and efficient management will offset regulatory burdens and minimize disruption to training and testing operations.
- Impacts of Ecosystem Transformation on Testing and Training Lands: This SON focuses on determining how large-scale ecological shifts impact the landscapes that support DoD training and testing and management interventions that could offset such impacts. Understanding these transformations will help installations reduce mission disruptions and protect natural infrastructure critical to readiness.
The pre-proposal deadline is January 13, 2026 at 2:00 PM ET. Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the BAA (Broad Agency Announcement) or Federal call instructions and ensure alignment with the applicable SON.
